Now booking school visits!
As an educator and school culture & climate coach, I have been inspired to write children’s literature on the topic of resilience and self-acceptance, and to help break the cycles that so many of our youth face today.
My children’s books are great books for the classroom. I am currently scheduling school author visits so that I can bring these topics to life for your students through interactive presentations, writing workshops, and discussions.

ABOUT ME
DeAnna Lynn is an accomplished author in the field of social emotional learning (SEL), with a particular focus on resilience and school culture & climate. Having been born in Chicago and raised in Rockford, IL, DeAnna’s unique perspective is often reflected in her writing, empowering readers to overcome life circumstances and exude social-emotional competence.
After receiving her Master’s degree in Dual Language Teacher Leadership from Roosevelt University in Chicago, DeAnna drew from her knowledge of social-emotional development to write socially relevant literature for children and school leaders. In February 2023, DeAnna founded Shining Light Consulting and Learning, an educational consulting firm that helps school programs with culture & climate to improve Kindergarten/school readiness. DeAnna’s goal is to inspire communities to be resilient, defy statistics, and value emotional intelligence. DeAnna is now the author of several books, including the highly-reviewed “The Cupcake Factor: A Bite-Sized Recipe for Emotionally Intelligent School Leadership.”
In her spare time, DeAnna loves dining out, listening to music, and enjoying the city of Chicago.

SOAR!
SOAR! is about a 7-year-old boy who lives in inner city Chicago and comes from humble beginnings.
